DETROIT School board rejects plan to collaborate
The Detroit Board of Education voted Thursday night to reject a seven- point plan for collaborating with Robert Bobb, the state-appointed emergency financial manager.
“It was rejected because he insists on making the academic decisions,” said board president Carla Scott, who cut the meeting short because of tensions between board members and Bobb and his staff.
“The board is supposed to set academic policy,” Scott said. “If the governor had wanted to take over the district, that’s what she would’ve done,” Scott said.
